If you are into collecting various decks of playing cards, Giovanni might have something for you. The “Good Deck” as its name indicates focuses on a moral alignment of good. This balances “evil deck” that was already successfully produced by Giovanni. I will admit that I do not review all that many decks of playing cards. I’m just not a collector and I don’t really play the types of card games that you can play with a standard 52 card deck. So when I review this campaign, keep that in mind.

When launching a crowd funding campaign, you have a few different options for locals. You can pick one of the general purpose crowd funding sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and Tilt, or you can use a site dedicated to the type of project that you are developing. Card Launcher is in the second category.
First, a little bit about the already existing sister deck. Earlier this year the Evil Deck was part of a contest on playingcardforum.com a forum specifically dedicated to playing cards. The contest had six decks and 107 voters. The Evil Deck received 57% of the vote making it the clear winner.
It’s pretty easy to see the similarities and differences between the twin decks. Both feature interesting artwork and are well matched. I could imagine that it wouldn’t be impossible to come up with a game that featured both of these decks in a single game, maybe a modified form of Canasta.

Chances of success
The product itself seems like a good product for collectors. It’s fun that you can get two sister decks: the good and evil deck. That being said, it seemed like there were a few mistakes that were made with the campaign. The biggest was the delay in getting updates out. Updates used to get your current backers to bring in new backers is very time sensitive and the campaign was already stuck at the half way point by the time the first updates arrived. Still, there is certainly time remaining and if Giovanni continues to get the word out, and if Card Launcher experiences that same 48 hour sprint at the end of its campaigns, then the campaign definitely has a chance of succeeding.
