Forum: Run An Empire
I’m happy to see a game that encourages others to get outside and interact with the real world. Instead of separating us further from one another, I think that augmented reality and alternative reality are both paradigms which can bring us back to interacting with each other face to face.
Run An Empire is a game where players compete to capture and maintain control of as much of their local territory as possible. To capture somewhere you have to run (or jog, or walk) around it.
The size of empires will constantly fluctuate so we want to show someone’s historic success as well as their current status. We’ll have a system where every square kilometre of land owned produces a fixed amount of points, or credits per day (For example, 10 credits per 1km²).
To communicate to the world your prestigious career (and represent yourself in the field) you will be able to spend these credits on personalising and upgrading every element of your own coat of arms.
Pledge Levels: 8 levels ranging from £4 to £300

Chances of success
Betas for every backer! Yes, if you get the game, you’ll have access to the beta as well. This type of game is going to need play testing, and this type of game will only be really fun once a large number of people are playing it. Pan Studio was smart to give people access to the game as early as possible. Still, the fact that this type of games requires a lot of players and that pledge tiers were kept relatively low may have created Pan Studio’s biggest hurdle.
One thing that I would like to mention is that whoever is keeping an eye on the campaign seems responsive. This is great! Again and again I see campaigns that receive very little attention from the creator and therefore very little attention from backers. If you want to run a campaign, be ready to answer questions and post updates! Hopefully we’ll get to see an update from Pan Studios in the next day or two.
